Rochester and Rochester Hills today is a sight to behold. It was named the 9th wealthiest community in the United States in 2010, and has served as a home to huge celebrities like Eminem, Ben Wallace, and Madonna. Oakland University is located close by, the Royal Park Hotel has hosted several of the biggest names in show business, and The Rochester Brewery has been making authentic Michigan beer for decades. The most impressive tourist attraction at the moment, however, is the Big Bright Light Show in downtown Rochester in Main Street. Every year at Christmas time dozens of city workers and contractors come out to decorate the storefronts of Main Street with festive holiday lighting. This year the show is using over a million lights, and is the grandest iteration of the light show since the tradition started in 2006. This display of holiday spirit is a clear example of the people of Rochester’s dedication to their hometown. With such spirited citizens, the city of Rochester and Rochester Hills will continue to thrive and display its excellence for years to come.
