Welcome to Marquette, Michigan! The City of Marquette is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on the shores of Lake Superior. Historically a center of the iron industry of Michigan, Marquette is now also home to a growing university, several research facilities, and the largest wooden dome in the world. Marquette is also known for its tourist industry. Sugarloaf Mountain, Presque Isle, Little Presque Isle, and Dead River Falls are all beautiful places to enjoy the area’s natural scenery. The numerous lighthouses near the city are also great places to visit. During the winter, visitors can ski and snowboard at Marquette Mountain located south of town.
