First opening its doors in 1909, the Lion Automobile Company produced a very popular car out of Adrian. The company was founded by Fred Postal and Henry Bowen and during its short operation time was a major employer in Adrian. The Lion Automobile Company produced two types of cars that had a fair amount of success. They made a smaller, more stylish roadster model as well as a larger touring model. In its final year producing cars, 1912, their model could be bought for $1,600. Unfortunately the company experienced a fire in 1912 in which 150 cars were destroyed. The company was unable to recover from this financially and it folded that year. Although the Lion Automobile Company produced cars for only three years, they had a fair amount of success and were regarded as one the most popular car producers of the time.(american-automobiles)
