The Marysville Library can show much of its growth to efforts within the community itself. The idea of a public library came from a the school librarian who was able to the use of a small room next to the high school library. In 1966, the library became part of the St. Clair County Library system; it was relocated to a building near of the high school a year later.
As the population of the city grew, the library needed to grow with it. After much debate on a location, the was decided to be across the street from the high school and next to the city building. The Marysville Branch of the St. Clair County Library currently serves a population of 10,000 residents through its many programs and wide variety of material.
