Portland: History for the “City of Two Rivers”

Portland is located in Ionia County, and half way between Lansing and Grand Rapids.  There is an estimation the town has a population of 3,914 as of 2013. The village itself is 2.78 sq miles. This town is also near the highway, by taking exit I-96, travels can visit the town and see what this town has to offer.

The downtown area has two rivers that join and run through the city, Looking Glass River and Grand River. This gave the town the nickname The City of Two Rivers. Many residents enjoy fishing, and boating on the river. There is even a river trail that that runs along the river. Portland takes pride of its two rivers and always tries to show it with festivals and other events along the river.River Trail Shot of Downtown
