Fun Facts About Frankfort

  • Father Jacques Marquette was allegedly buried in Frankfort for a short period until he was moved to his permanent location at the church at St. Ignace.


  • Before the shoreline on Elberta Beach, there is a series of wooden boards where friends and families were able to inscribe their names, messages, or proposals making their visit very memorable.


  • Every first Saturday of August, natives to Frankfort gather in Lake Michigan on their paddleboards or flotation devices near the north side of the Frankfort Lighthouse in memory of those injured or killed walking on the Pier leading up the Frankfort Lighthouse.
