Community Development

The Community Development/Building Department is available to assist you with your construction and planning needs.

The Building Department conducts plan reviews on all applications for code compliance and issues building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits for all regulated work within the municipal limits.  Subsequent inspections are performed to assure that the work performed complies with the State Construction Codes in order to safeguard public health, safety and welfare.

Construction permits are required to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system.  Any questions regarding whether a permit may be required should be addressed to the City Building Official.

The Planning Department provides assistance to citizens, developers and other interested parties on all site plan submittals, re-zoning requests, subdivision plats, right-of-way vacation requests and changes to the City Master Plan or Zoning Ordinance.  Additionally, the Planning Department provides staff assistance to the Marysville Planning Commission and Marysville Zoning Board of Appeals.

All commercial and industrial developments are coordinated through the plan review process by the Building Official/Zoning Administrator.
