Founded in 1831, becoming a Village in 1837, Centreville is the county seat of St. Joseph County, Michigan. This one and a half square mile village is located thirty minutes south of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and one hour north of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bordering counties are Cass to the West, Kalamazoo to the North, Branch to the East, and Indiana’s Lagrange and Elkhart counties to the south. M-86, the main road that runs through Centreville is lined with many shops, banks and restaurants. The most recent census estimated the population of Centreville to be 1,425 residents.
