After over 30 years of operating under the name Allied Paper Mills, it was announced on September 2, 1955 that the household appliance company called Thor Corporation would acquire Allied Paper Mills. While there were no executive changes within the Allied Paper Mills board, the company was renamed to the Allied Paper Corporation in 1956.

Paper production began to thrive once again as the new corporation now specialized in book papers (pages in Bibles and novels), business papers (forms, memos and advertisements), and school supply papers (drawing paper, envelopes, pads, and typing papers).
